The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) is seeking applicants for an Assistant Transportation Researcher to work in the Travel Forecasting Program in Austin, Texas.  Salary is commensurate with experience. 

Position Description

The purpose of this position is to support travel demand/behavior modeling, transportation planning, and multi-modal travel forecasting. The position will also provide technical and analytical support in travel model development and application that makes use of existing and advanced techniques, approaches and sources of data.  The position will also be involved in informal one-to-one and small group training on implemented travel modeling methods. 

Required Education and Experience:

Education: Master’s in engineering or planning or related field with an emphasis in transportation.

Experience: 0-2 years practical experience in transportation, modeling, and forecasting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of traffic engineering, transportation planning, land use/demographic analysis.  Working knowledge of the 3 and 4-step travel demand models, travel model network and traffic analysis zone (TAZ) data inputs and travel model calibration and validation.  Mathematical, critical thinking abilities. Proficiency using spreadsheet and databases. Good writing and communication skills.  Ability to explain, demonstrate and oversee technical concepts and procedures to individuals with limited technical experience.  Ability to work cooperatively with others on team assignments
