Forensic Analysis of Spreadsheet-Based Traffic Models

Hi

As many of you know, I spent a number of years with the infrastructure practice at S&P before establishing RBconsult. My Canadian partner, Sylvain, similarly comes from a financial background (ex-Brookfield). As such, we both have experience of auditing very large, complex financial models using forensic software - and we apply the same to all spreadsheet-based traffic models that we review.

It struck us that others may also be interested in bringing analytical techniques developed in finance to bear in traffic modelling situations. Cross-fertilisation, if you like! The forensic software quickly identifies spreadsheet modelling concerns: errors, sloppy syntax, tracing formulae to their roots, checking operations, assessing overall modelling risk etc. We run it in-house as part of our QA procedures before handing anything to clients.

We wondered if there might be enough interest in this topic for a TMIP webinar? To gauge interest, could you drop me a line (direct to info@robbain.com)?

Kind regards,

Rob
