Modeling and Mobility Analyst

 

 

This Analyst IV position is part of the CDOT's Division of Transportation Development – Information Management Branch.  This unit is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of mobility analysis processes from a multi-model perspective. The Unit develops and supports travel demand modeling tools, including CDOT's Statewide Travel Model, and is responsible for some mobility/congestion performance measures and analysis used by CDOT for planning and resource allocation purposes. This Unit provides subject matter expertise, information and analytical services regarding the performance of Colorado's transportation system in the movement of people and goods. The Unit also plays a leading role at CDOT in obtaining, evaluating, and using both public and private sector mobility data. In this role, the Unit develops complex transportation-related databases, which are applied to development of the statewide activity base travel demand model and other analytical purposes. In addition, GIS and statistical analysis are performed by the staff to manage and advance the assigned projects. The unit uses these tools and skills to support planning, operations, engineering and policy analysis across CDOT.

This position will participate in all aspects of the Modeling and Mobility Analysis Unit's responsibilities, as described below.  The position will serve a technical supporting role in the Unit, carrying out tasks under the direction of supervisors.  This position also will take on a supporting role in interacting with customers, and presenting the Unit's work to selected audiences.  Technical activities will include:

  • The position will serve as a technical expert in the Unit, developing approaches to tasks and projects through consultation with supervisors, then carrying out the approach with limited supervision.  This position will take an active role in interacting with customers, and presenting the Unit's work to all audiences.  Technical activities will include presenting Travel Demand Modeling and reliability performance measure information to staff and planning partners.
     
  • Travel demand forecasting and modeling – Participates in implementation, upgrade and operation of a statewide travel demand model, including acquisition/production of input data, implementation of models using appropriate software tools, operation of models as necessary in support of planning efforts, provision of the model to planning partners and support of their use of it, and analysis of model outputs.
     
  • Transportation planning analytical support – Works with planning staff, environmental staff, and others, both within CDOT and with planning partners, to provide advice on the uses of data and analytical tools for planning support, and to produce data and model outputs that address planning requirements for corridor plans, regional plans, and statewide plans.
     
  • Data development support – works with data producers at CDOT, consultants, and planning partners to identify needed data, formulate acquisition and storage and use plans, and help check data as acquired.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm work hours, Monday-Friday
