Bi-State Regional Commission is recruiting for a Transportation/Traffic Engineer. Following is a brief description detailing qualifications for this position:

TRANSPORTATION/TRAFFIC ENGINEER

Starting salary from $4,166.67/mo. or higher DOQ and PE status.  Responsibilities: Prepare/maintain MPO travel demand model, including calibration/validation, and trip forecasting for MPO Long Range Transportation Plan in team environment. Present results in written documentation, plans and presentations. Participate in urban and regional transportation planning–performance measures, ITS architecture, travel time and congestion analyses, crash analysis, long range planning, technical analyses for traffic and safety. Use variety of data sources/standards, Internet, documents, reports, surveys and personal contact to facilitate travel demand model development and analysis. Ability to independently evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications to produce best results.  Prepare and disseminate information in suitable format through extensive interaction with internal and external contacts.  Successful candidate will possess strong organizational, planning, verbal and written communication, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.  Two to three years previous experience with transportation modeling and analysis, and proficiency with TransCAD or CUBE, GISDK scripting, ArcGIS is preferred.  Minimum BA/BS in Transporta-tion, Traffic or Civil Engineering required.  Excellent benefits (retirement, health, life insurance, short and long term disability, vacation, sick, holidays, education reim-bursement, assistance with moving costs), and merit review program.  Centrally located 2.5 hours west of Chicago, 2.5 hours east of Des Moines, 5 hours south of Minneapolis and 4 hours north of St. Louis, in the third largest metropolitan area in Illinois and in Iowa.  Cost of Living is below the national average.
